VoIP (Digital Voice) and Wireless Security systems.

June 29th, 2009

CU2000_hresMany people don’t even know what VoIP is. VoIP is digital home phone service that cuts the cost of home phone service by up to 50%. Now that copper phone lines and regular phone lines are going away and everything is going digital we need to remember that a trend is forming. Why will this happen and how can it happen. Just as Television went digital the past few weeks, so will telephone service. The Digital Telephone adapter contains your phone number, and all calling features that the regular phone lines currently posses. What can Digital home phone service do for you? When you think about the savings over the next year it will dramatically show you how much money you can be saving over the year. If you are currently paying over $60 for home phone service then your most likely to pay about $720.00 per year and that’s being nice when assuming you pay about $60 per month. Now with Digital home phone service (VoIP) you would be paying about lets say about $30 per month you are looking at a bill of about $320.00. That’s a assumed savings of over 50% and a yearly savings of $360.00. If you calculate that up over the years you most likely would have been able to pay for a vehicle over the years of squandering that type of money.

ind_package_silverNow, that you understand Digital Voice, its time to see what’s going to happen with your home security system right? Remember most home/commercial security companies only allow regular phone lines for monitoring and communications with their central security systems. So why would I want to be secured by a land line again? Don’t most people know if you want to get rid of a home security system all you have to do it cut the phone line? So how can I really feel secure? Once the phone line is cut, then how will they communicate with me? Well now its time to introduce a Wireless home security system. This system will afford you the comfort in knowing that your security system phone lines can’t be cut.. Why? Because you don’t have phone lines period. Its wireless, and there is nothing the intruder can do about it. Let me see them try to cut a wireless signal? Not only that, it also allows for quicker transmission via the internet and more reliability from your home security system. I think I would like to be assured of at least some sort of signal being sent to my provider than none at all. Also, the wireless security system from Protect America, (the 3rd largest home security provider) in America has a talking security base. I’m always fond of hearing “Front Door Open, or Back door Open, or Garage door breached” now it allows me to know where to run from and where not to go. Remember the old security system just beeped, and that is not enough information to tell me where I need to run!

The advantages of VoIP and wireless security definitely pay off in the long run. It not only saves you money and gives you a sense of security, but it also gives you the opportunity to decide how you want to secure your family. If you want do a half way job using land line security, then go right ahead, but I will make sure that I will secure my family with VoIP (Digital home phone service) and Wireless home security.

Digital Television now Digital Voice or VoIP

June 16th, 2009

Just how Digital Television (http://www.dtv.gov/) happened on Friday Digital voice will is also happening at a rate that is staggering. Yet so many people still use regular phone lines and pay bills in excess of a few hundred dollars. Most consumers don’t know that they can DRASTICALLY reduce their phone bills to less than $30 per month with all the same features as their copper and outdated phone lines. Most consumers don’t know that all they need to do is plug their Internet cable into one Jack and the phone line into the phone jack in the back of the adapter and they will get Dial tone. You can port your number over within 4-6 weeks to a digital provider like my company Hydrenet Communications a Globalinx franchise.

Its really simple if you look at it, and most people are reluctant to change their services because they just don’t understand or are afraid to do so. If they switch carriers they feel as if they will loose something, when in all actuality you will be gaining TONS of features.

How would you like to have a Web Based control panel that allows you to make calls from the web? How about all the regular features, please the find me follow me feature that you can program to ring all your numbers. I personally use the feature that sends me an email if I miss a call on my home phone. Then I can listen to the Voice mail on my blackberry and call the person back if and when I want. This can also be used for businesses as we at Hydrenet Communications LLC can also provide services Commercially to small, medium and large Corporations.

What is VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol? Or Digital Voice as most of the other companies call it?

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), is a technology that allows you to make voice calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone line. Some VoIP services may only allow you to call other people using the same service, but others may allow you to call anyone who has a telephone number – including local, long distance, mobile, and international numbers. Also, while some VoIP services only work over your computer or a special VoIP phone, other services allow you to use a traditional phone connected to a VoIP adapter. No VoIP Bahamas! Why?

May 22nd, 2009

This is directly from the Public Utilities Commission’s website.

The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) was established on March 22, 2000 under the provisions of the Public Utilities Commission Act, 1993. It was established for the economic regulation of electricity, telecommunications, and water and sewerage services. However the PUC only regulates telecommunications, including management of the radio frequency spectrum, at this time. It will commence regulating the other sectors on dates to be determined by the Government. The PUC is to operate with a high level of autonomy. It receives direction from the Government by means of the Telecommunications Act, 1999 and the Telecommunications Sector Policy, a document that is required by the Act to be gazetted and is, therefore, an official policy document. It is the PUC’s responsibility to see that the policy is implemented.
Objectives

The objectives of the Telecommunications Act are to:

* Ensure the provision of telecommunications services that satisfy reasonable demands and facilitate the availability of new telecommunications services;
* Ensure that efficient service providers may charge rates sufficient to finance the provision of their services;
* Protect the interests of consumers in respect of prices and quality of services;
* Promote competition in the telecommunications sector; and to
* Promote efficiency and economy on the part of service providers.

Now tell me how can this commission regulate VoIP in the Bahamas? They have no right to tell consumers which VoIP company they can and cannot use. I’ve done a little bit of research and found out that there is a company in the Bahamas named “Indigo” which provides VoIP services. And most all of the other VoIP company’s in the Bahamas are much smaller. However, the main Telecommunications company BATELCO, is the only company that has the Infrastructure. They own then entire Telecommunications Infrastructure in the Bahamas so what does this mean for the small shops. They all have to use this companies infrastructure anyway right? So how are you really independent? They still get a cut of your profits!

Its been brought to my attention that the PUC has been threatening local residents that are not using the local Telecommunications company for VoIP services with Law suites. The PUC has been telling them that they will be fined over 300k and prosecuted for using services like Globalinx, Vonage, Magic Jack, etc.. How can they regulate this when its free enterprise? The Internet is a wide open market, so how can this be regulated? How can the PUC threaten people with law suites? This is absolutely ridiculous and something has to be done about this. The PUC can’t go around threatening the locals and scaring them into using the local service. This is not right and should not be tolerated.

If I want to use Globalinx VoIP I should have the right to use whomever I want to use. If I want to use Vonage then I should be able to use them. My VoIP provider should not matter. Its the competition that they can’t handle. Its loosing customers to the Giants that’s causing them pain and despair. Why not just step up your game and your marketing tactics than to force people in one direction, that just does not make sense. I personally plan to do something about this because its just crazy how a country can dictate to the people that put them in office as to what telecommunications services they can use. VoIP is here to stay and its allowing families to see each other with the Globalinx Video Phone College students are now able to see their parents back home now without having to spend thousands of dollars on phone cards and plane tickets. If I can dial up a local U.S number and call the Bahamas for free and SEE my family why would I not take advantage of that?

Tell me how can the Bahamas PUC commission stop me from using whom I want to use? This is absolutely preposterous and it won’t be tolerated.
